Catalyst Acupuncture is the Portland, Oregon home of Beth Griffing, Licensed Acupuncturist and Master of Acupuncture and Traditional Oriental Medicine. As your acupuncturist, Beth listens to all aspects of your story, understanding you as a whole person rather than as a “condition.”

In treatment, she combines an understanding of ‘Western’ disease patterns with the dynamic ‘Eastern’ medical traditions, offering the best of both worlds with a thorough diagnosis followed by a deeply relaxing treatment. Beth believes that healing should be enjoyable, restful, and even fun. She creates a healing process that allows you the space to connect with your best potential.

You will leave your first visit with a plan of care that is as efficient and practical as possible, tailored to your schedule. Beth will help you to navigate the many decisions that one confronts when building a strong plan of long-term health maintenance, whether you may be confronted with an acute pathology, a chronic imbalance or simply more aches and pains than usual.

Beth Griffing specializes in the treatment of chronic and acute pain, hormonal imbalance, and neurological disorders. She has experience with a range of autoimmune conditions as well. Feel free to ask about how she can help you.

Beth enjoys working with clients who are completely new to acupuncture and may look at this medicine with a skeptical eye, because she leans toward the analytic and skeptical herself.

Catalyst For Breakfast

Why the name Catalyst Acupuncture?

In a nutshell, we here at Catalyst are fans of biochemistry and the beauty of nature’s most simple yet efficient processes. A catalyst can be as immaterial as a thought or as substantial as a molecule of gold. The catalyst has the ability to both slow down a reaction and speed it up, yet the catalyst itself never changes. Using the inherent sophistication of the body, acupuncture acts as a catalyst to create patterns of healing in a gentle way.

In this spirit, Beth Griffing, L.Ac. carefully listens to your story and observes your state of health in order to provide treatments that create the change you desire. In some cases this treatment may serve as a small nudge which can provide a quick change; in other cases Beth will work steadily with you to create a gentle but powerful long-term treatment plan.

Beth advocates for your health care autonomy by encouraging and teaching self-care techniques to continue at home, tailored to your lifestyle. Beth strongly believes in the universal right to health, equal recognition of all communities, and non-discrimination. She strives to promote health care access at a low cost, with a focus on continuing preventive care and by providing discounts for various types of clientele (veterans, unemployed, etc). Beth will support your quest for wellness by catalyzing real change in a positive and supportive environment.
